Kraig Kirkes was born in Austin, Texas. He self taught himself to play the guitar at the age of eight. By the time he was twelve he was playing local clubs as a sit in on Friday and Saturday nights with local country bands. By the age of 14 he had his own band and began playing honky-tonks and clubs all over central Texas. At 17 he went to Nashville, recorded some demos and quickly caught the ear of famous Nashville producer, Bill Walker. He then recorded several singles under Walker's direction at the famous Columbia Studios in Nashville. Destined to be a star, fate cut it short when after returning home was involved in a near fatal auto crash. After overcoming injuries that almost took his life he managed to pull his life back together and continue forward. He married, went to college, became a father and along the way, continued to write songs and play music as often as he could. During his performances he would play songs that he wrote himself and each time would receive strong encouragement to try and do something with his songs. His voice and his songs were just too good not to be heard. After being asked by Glen Campbell's family to put together a CD of his music exclusively for Glen, he embarked on the journey of recording his first CD entitled, "A Change Of Wind." It is a collection of richly produced, country songs that truly are successful in conveying his talent, passion and feelings in this collection of heart felt songs. Needless to say, the album has already began to receive great reviews and airplay. People were even making pirate copies of the CD before it was released! One copy found its was to Starbucks and it was played non-stop over their system for 5 days! Kraig then signed with TAJ Records and RCI Music Nashville for radio and sales promotion and distribution. The album is being played in Australia, New Zealand and getting good reviews in England and Scotland as well. This CD contains 10 beautiful songs, eight of which he penned himself. Over the years he has written many great songs and this CD "is just the beginning." Kraig Kirkes is truly a great talent. I honestly believe he is one of the great country songwriters of our time and an equally great singer as well. He voice flows like velvet from the speakers of my stereo. This is just the start of his new beginning. It is only a matter of time before his re-emergence once again as a giant talent from the great state of Texas.
