The pleasant-sounding arrangements included his orchestra, choirs, vocal soloists, and even a tap dancer. Since this noteworthy concert, Duke Ellington and his Orchestra have performed hundreds of Concerts of Sacred Music in the sanctuaries of nearly every part of the world. Also, many other orchestras, choirs and singers have granted this music with ceaseless inspiration and joy, and it is in this context that the band Sacred Concert came to life. Sacred Concert is a Danish jazz-ensemble formed with the sole purpose of performing this particular - and predominantly vocal - part of Duke Ellington's music, using distinctive arrangements alternating between groovy solos, playful duets and stylish variations - all in the attempt to bring new flavours to this great music.
