There are hundreds of songs I would have loved to record, but, to help narrow the field, I focused on a few of my favorite composers. Gershwin's S'Wonderful and How Long Has This Been Going On are infectious and made it very easy for Ed, Bob and I to set a groove. Lover Man by Ram Ramirez is a song I sing every time I perform. I never hear or feel it the same way twice. I love to sing ballads and chose Angel Eyes by Matt Dennis, I Thought about You by Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Mercer, and Tenderly by Walter Gross for their intriguing harmonies and sensitive lyrics. The first time I heard Jobim's One Note Samba was on a plane ascending above the Newark, NJ airport. I was hooked on the song -- and on Jobim forever (and now even kind of like Newark). Then there are the playful tunes -- Waller's Honeysuckle Rose, Bye Bye Blackbird by Dixon and Henderson, and Put on a Happy Face by Strouse and Adams which are just plain fun. Ed and I are still trying to figure out exactly what Frim Fram Sauce and "ausenfay" are. Most singers I've met love to sing the blues, and one of my favorites is Duke Ellington's I Ain't Got Nothin' but the Blues. And finally, Cole Porter's Love for Sale will always be a challenging encounter. I hope you enjoy listening to this CD as much as we enjoyed making it for you!

Love, Pamela

REVIEW:

"Ross and Moss. It has a nice ring to it. And a nice sound. Veteran jazz pianist Ed Moss has hooked up with vocalist Pam Ross releasing a delightfully stripped-down CD of standards featuring Ross's friendly, breezy style.

"Ross moved back to town from New York three years ago and began pursuing her singing passion playing with Moss at private parties. 'She's fun to play for. She has a wonderful contact with audience few singers have. She's there with you,' said Moss.

"The album features Ross accompanied just by Moss's piano and Bodley's bass and plays like a night at a club. 'Pam said, "I just want to do some well-known tunes and maybe some novelty ones," Moss said. 'It's like an evening with a singer.'"
