Among the material covered on this winning collection are classics like the Gerswhin's "Fascinating Rhythm," which is paired with keyboard licks from the thrilling "Rhapsody in Blue," a classic favorite from Broadway legend Cy Coleman, along with more contemporary works from Burt Bacharach & Hal David, Gordon Lightfoot, Mary Chapin Carpenter & the title cut, "Real Emotional Girl," by Randy Newman.

Some of the CD's highlights are Menzie's exciting arrangement of Irving Berlin's "Let Yourself Go," which prompted the Chicago Tribune to herald her as " a cunningly intelligent performer....her vocals more sumptuous and her pianism more virtuosic than ever." Other standouts are two featured duets with Menzie's singing partner, Tom Michael. They bring their acclaimed vocal stylings to pairings of Irving Berlin's "Always" & "What'll I Do" and a thrilling arrangement of Van Morrison's "Moondance" paired with the standard "Moonglow." You can hear why Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune calls them "one of the more compelling duo's in cabaret today!"

Beckie is a two-time winner of Chicago's AFTER DARK "Outstanding Cabaret Artist" award, and their 2002 Hall of Fame award for contiuned contributions to the cabaret and theatre community. Also, the Chicago Reader has said "you could swear she lived every moment of the song. Her voice is thick like a summer rain....sumptuous playing." Her new release "Real Emotional Girl" showcases that point.
