"I was thrilled when director Jack Baric asked me to score the movie "Port Town." It was an opportunity to create music of many different styles for one project. The documentary required very unique pieces of music filled with different moods, dramatic nuances and dynamics. My wife, Beth, suggested I write a song for the end credits. My goal for the song, "This Town," was to support the movie thematically and lyrically. My band, Olio, had a great time recording it. I am proud to be a part of San Pedro history and thank God for this experience. Thanks for listening!" Arif Hodzic Seven Tales of Inspiration from the Greatest Little Place on the West Coast Set against the thriving Port of Los Angeles and San Pedro's gorgeous coastline, Port Town tells seven dramatic stories about San Pedro's tough men and women who found the soaring promise of America's greatness on the multicultural town's gritty docks and seaside streets. The seven vignettes within Port Town include: Man of the Sea Chronicles the life and legend John Olguin, voted San Pedro's Man of the Twentieth Century by the Rotary Club. Hail Mary Season The story of Mary Star High School's last football team's miracle season in 1960. The Last Fishermen The story of Sicilian fishing captain John Diorio, one of the last young Italian skippers on San Pedro's wharf. Artists and Musicians Must DIY Between seminal punkrock figure Mike Watt, photographer Annie Appel, and Channel Street Skatepark builder Andy Harris, San Pedro is full of uplifting stories of artists struggling to create beautiful things for the world to appreciate. Croation Freedom Runners A special appearance by Croation actor Goran Visnjic, tells of Leonard Baric and Tony and Lucia Fantov's dramatic escape from communism. Lady Longshoreman Pioneer Chronicles the life of Elena Viramontes, who in the 1970s was the second lady to get a dock work job and join the ILWU.
