These days, the Chisholm Trail may be lined with Dennys and Starbucks; the Old West may be one giant Wal-Mart; but there are still wild places, rugged places, in the mountains and plains, where the glory of America's fabled past thrives. There you'll find singer/songwriter Brenn Hill drawing inspiration for his music. No cowboy-come-lately, this Utah native is the real deal, a passionate poet, outdoorsman, and veritable young lion in the field of Western music. Brenn is one of the bright hopes of this most American music and his current Red Cliffs Press album, ENDANGERED, is serving to further that reputation.

Produced by Eddie Schwartz and recorded at Ocean Way and Sound Stage studios in Nashville with an inspired band of Music City's finest, Hill's fifth album is a collection of fourteen songs that speak boldly of life in the modern west. Punctuated by Hill's crisp cinematic imagery and underscored by his confident melodies, ENDANGERED's songs deal with a broad array of themes and emotions, offering insight into life and love and how changing times affect the land around us. Both the controversial 'Legacy Highway' and the title track speak eloquently on behalf of Conservation. 'Pickup Truck Café' and 'My Old Chevy' commemorate undying traditions of fellowship and parenthood, while 'Mirror Of Your Eyes' and 'Dance Like The Fire' celebrate love and its ability to thrive in a harsh environment. 'Pierce' pays tribute to the horse; 'One Hand In The Riggin' anatomizes the life of the roughstock rider; and 'Be Back In Texas' tells the tale of love lost to rodeolust. The protagonist of 'Buckaroo Tattoo' is a very contemporary cowgirl, while the characterization in 'Last Of The Red Rock Riders' evokes a profound timelessness. The plot line of 'Little John' demonstrates how adventure sometimes can yield unexpected benefit. 'Lost River Outpost' examines the relationship between an artist and his audience. 'Canadians' is a meditation on nature worthy of Keats. In all, ENDANGERED's more than fifty-five minutes of music will resonate deeply with cowboys and conservationists, rodeo wranglers and equine enthusiasts, lovers, parents, and fans of classic 'country & western' and alt-country sounds.
