It’s official . . . The San Diego Cajun Playboys are the best Cajun Band Outside of Louisiana as certified by the Cajun French Music Association (CFMA). The band will receive the CFMA's prestigious Le Cajun Award in the 2006 Prix Dehors de Nous category for the “best Cajun band outside of Louisiana.†The CFMA's 18th Annual "Le Cajun" Music Awards ceremony will be held at the Heymann Performing Arts Center on Friday, August 18, 7:00 p.m. in Lafayette Louisiana. And believe it or not, the San Diego Cajun Playboys have been playing Cajun music at dances and festivals in Southern California since 1997 - and doing it the way it should be - all Cajun, all the time! Our album is dedicated to all of our families, fans, dancing friends, and to everyone who has appreciated our efforts to bring a little bit of South Louisiana to the West Coast. And we're going to keep playing Cajun French music out here as long as there are people around who still want to keep on dancin' . . . but we won't quit our day jobs anytime soon. Recent survey results show that "ten or nine out of ten Cajuns" prefer the San Diego Cajun Playboys (for their Cajun music) over other brands. Most major Southern California festivals agree. The band has performed on the main stages and cultural workshop stages at the largest Cajun and Zydeco music festivals on the West Coast - the Long Beach Bayou Festival, the Simi Valley Cajun and Creole festival, and San Diego's Gator By the Bay festival. And since you can't have Cajun music without Cajun culture, the San Diego Cajun Playboys take care to pay tribute to the greatest songs and artists of Cajun music, with traditional songs from the legendary Iry LeJeune, the Balfa Brothers, Nathan Abshire and D.L. Menard. Featuring the ten-button accordion, fiddle, guitar, bass, drums, Cajun triangle and vocals in the original Cajun French, the San Diego Cajun Playboys respect the Cajun tradition. With a repertoire of two-steps, waltzes, "honky-tonk boogie" and original songs performed entirely in the Cajun language, the San Diego Cajun Playboys bring the best of authentic South Louisiana dance hall music to Southern California. So remember . . . if you want real Cajun music, it had better be in Cajun French. Accept no less! Check out the artist's website: http://www.cajunnetwork.com/sdcp/index.html Track List: 1.
