I was always fascinated with the guitar when I was a child, so you can imagine the excitement I felt at age 12 when my Dad took me to get my first. My influences as a teenager, until I was about 17 years old, were mostly heavy rock artists. I remember cranking the radio up when a good Metallica song would come on. Of course, we can't forget Guns N Roses. Well, finally I woke up and realized country music is more my speed. My early influences in country music were guys like Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Travis Tritt. Since then, I have found myself highly influenced by folks like Kenny Chesney, Diamond Rio, and Rascal Flatts. When you here a song by Joe Hess you won't be able to deny who I grew up listening to. You get that traditional 1990's Garth Brooks/George Strait music with a twist of today's modern styles. My songwriting is something I continue to work on daily. If a song was written by me, you can bet it has some personal meaning. The CD “Bridges†is a collection of songs that allow the listener to peer into my life for a moment.
