In July of 2005, on the campus of Mars Hill College in North Carolina, something wonderful happened. It was a concert. A part of the 13th Gathering of Cornish Cousins, the concert brought together some of the best-known performers of Cornish music from North America and Cornwall, as well as four great talents from the mountains of North Carolina. On impulse, almost, a decision was made to try to capture the concert on tape. Fortunately the College was able to provide the equipment and people to make it happen. Except for the usual minor glitches inevitable in a live show, all went well. So well that there was more material on tape than could be used. This CD is intended as a representation of that concert. It contains as many and as much of the best performances as would fit. Some editing has been done, and those that were there may notice that things aren't in the same order. But, with luck, the result will please and give something of an impression of what those lucky enough to be there heard. If you like songs and stories that are funny, scary, sad, sassy, lyric, rustic, familiar, brand new or old as the Carolina hills, you will find much to like here. The theme of the Gathering was "Cornwall and Appalachia: A Confluence of Cultures." This CD makes that come true. Check out the artist's website: http://www.jimwearne.com Track List: 1.
