""a slightly dark brand of acoustic-tinged slowcore, rich in melody and texture - a gorgeous musical statement" - (Somewhere Cold) Hush Collector formed in the uk coastal city of Brighton when songwriters Poppy Gonzalez (ex Mojave 3, Sing-Sing) and Katie Mummery (guest writer/vocalis on the new Harold Heath album) came together with a mutual desire to record an album of candid songs of an organic, yet interesting sounding nature. As a taster, they released the self-produced 'Flowby ep' to extremely warm reviews (for excerpts, please scroll down) on their own 'Candy Cone' label. The sound emerging so far, is described as spacious, often melancholic with songs that generally take a lethargic tempo... "Reflective songs are marked by sexily hushed vocal harmonies, wheezy atmospherics, and slowburning progressions and while the band knows how to restrain themselves, they also know when to release, allowing a storm of shivering electric guitar that erupt at just the right point before fading away again" (Opus Zine)... Lyrics lean towards life, death, love and plain old fashioned heartache and as someone said, 'are perfect for after the party and the morning after'listening. The ep came to the attention of BBC Southern Counties dj Phil Jackson who fast tracked it onto the playlist and said that 'out of all the cds that had come his way, theirs was one of only two that made it into his personal collection'. ..and so it was Hush Collector made their live debut on his South Live Show followed by a very successful launch party/gig at the suitably intimate Sanctuary Cella Venue. The band are currently in the studio working on their much anticipated debut album.
