Vancouver-based singer/songwriter Sarah MacDougall has played music and written songs since she was 12. Now she is a songwriter, musician, audio engineer and producer.

Sarah was born in Malmoe, Sweden in one of the stormiest years in southern Sweden. An icy snowstorm and a heavy cold wind had come over Scandinavia that year, which resulted in buried houses and cars all around. Soon after the snow had thawed away, Sarah came out into the world.

Sarah moved out of Sweden in her early twenties to attend university. She ended up in a small town in Australia for 2 years, then moved on to Vancouver, where she earned a fine arts degree in music. Since then, she has produced and recorded her alt-country debut album called "Headed for the hills", formed a band and played shows, and composed music for film, chamber ensembles and electro-acoustic performances.

Sarah MacDougall's music is best described as "alternative country" with a hint of noir. Her unique voice and lyrics carry the framework of her songs, recalling the styles of music of Johnny Cash, Lucinda Williams, and Leonard Cohen.
She proclaims that her music is about goose bumps, closeness, realness, excitement and distress.
