Glenna Bell is a Daughter of the Republic of Texas and a graduate of Texas A&M University. Surrounded by the woods outside of Beaumont, Texas, Glenna grew up influenced by the hymns sung a cappella at the Lumberton Church of Christ and by the '50s, '60s, and '70s country music that she found in her relatives’ record collections. Often compared stylistically to Johnny Cash, with a delivery that’s raw and bare boned, Glenna Bell captures the very essence of how country music was, is, and should always be.

Her latest release, Face This World, reflects this revealing perspective and expression of her journey. Produced by award-winning vocalist, songwriter, and musician John Evans, whose band also backed Glenna on upright bass and drums, Face This World is rooted in the past yet appeals to contemporary listeners. It is an album of work that exposes the very essence of traditional country music while invoking heartache, love, and loss with a stripped down yet powerful presentation.

Aside from John Evans’ singing two duets on the album and playing washboard, other guest appearances include Chris Masterson (Jack Ingram) who added guitar to several tracks, and Brian Thomas (Jesse Dayton) who made a stunning contribution with his banjo on “Cosmos Café.”

A recent deal with Crystal Clear Distribution has placed Face This World in retail outlets across the region, while 2006 brings about a major radio and publicity campaign, with a slew of regional AAA, Americana, and Country stations already featuring tracks from the album, plus Glenna's single release, "Be My Valentine On Christmas" which earned a very positive review from "the dean of Nashville entertainment journalists," Robert K. Oermann at Music Row Magazine.

Glenna Bell's music has recently been introduced to a variety of audiences through her live performance on Fox TV and as featured on the soundtrack to CNBC's new series, American Made, aired across the U.S. and in Europe and Asia. She's also keeping busy opening for the likes of Chip Taylor and Carrie Rodriguez, Hayes Carll, Two Tons of Steel, Albert and Gage, Jane Bond, and other prominent Texas acts.

Everyone in the path of Glenna Bell's music has been moved, and she has gained the elusive respect of her fellow musicians and peers. Producer Dan Workman, whose professional credits include working with Beyonce, ZZ Top and Clay Walker, says, “Glenna Bell is the Loretta Lynn of Texas. No, that’s not right, . . . she’s better.”
