Alexia Melnychuk is relatively new to the singer songwriter scene, but not to performing or song writing. While she has been performing professionally for the past decade it wasn't until 2005 that she began her solo career and released her debut Ep, Flying Machine. The collection of 5 original songs has been well received, earning her a top 20 spot on CKUA Radio (Alberta, Canada) Simple song titles like 'Diamonds' and 'Home' are filled with honesty and insight, and it is this honesty that is earning her fans. The title track 'Flying Machine' is a favourite, with its soulful fiddle and enticing harmonies. With a catalogue of songs tucked away, and finding herself very inspired by everything she has learnt from the first recording, Alexia is already at work on her first full length CD, due out in March 2007. Alexia will perform in Calgary Alberta Canada on May 6th, as a Finalist (Best Newcomer Category) in a 2006 Songwriting Competition hosted by the Calgary Folk Music Festival & The Ship & Anchor Pub!
