#4 on Inland Folk's Top 10 Northwest Folk CDs of 2005: "A wonderful cross between down-home and professional, studio & living room... this is one of those rare CDs that I regularly play for recreational listening because it's so much fun! It's a joyous celebration..." - Dan Maher, host of Inland Folk on Northwest Public Radio If Bill Monroe would have recruited Muddy Waters and B.B. King to be in the Bluegrass Boys, they might have sounded something like Big Red Barn. This Inland Northwest Quartet dishes out an acoustic gumbo of sounds, with one foot planted in the bluegrass tradition and the other hanging dangerously over some musical cliff with an alligator-infested swamp at the bottom of it. Cool covers (Mojo, St. James Infirmary, Mobile Line), crowd-favorite originals (Salvation Blues, Main Street Swing, Leaving Arizona), and even a Calypso version of an Irish tune popular among bluegrassers (St. Anne's Reel)... And what's with that Chicken song? It's a loose mix of styles that fits together like Jambalaya, Hot Sauce, and Beer. Four years of live performances throughout the Inland Northwest have forged a strong, unique sound in this band. Their debut CD captures that energy, creativity and attitude in a high quality project recorded at Black Coffee Studios in Spokane, WA and mastered by the guru of NW acoustic recordings, Fred Forssell. Pete Wernick (Dr. Banjo) said it best when he heard the band play: "THIS IS A FUN BAND!!" So come on in the Barn and join the party!!
