This CD project's vision was to create a CD for listening enjoyment, music education and to document this body of classical clarinet music we had been performing. It features clarinetist, Christin Hablewitz and her then 16-year-old student Sophie Goodwin. Sophie has been Christin's student for 8 years (since she was a little 9 year old squeaking on her clarinet!)...you should hear her now...wow. The Beethoven Trio also delightfully includes bass clarinetist, Dave Gibbs. We love the varied sound of the clarinet from it's rich mellow tones, so expressive, to its vibrant lightness it can convey. Christin has received an M.A. in Creativity & Arts Education and a B.M. in Music on clarinet from Northern Illinois University. Christin has taught clarinet, flute, concert band and steel band for about 10 years in a variety of ensembles and situations. She is always learning and expanding her performance experiences though performance and workshops with renown musicians: Marcos Silva, Carlos Oliveira, Steve Erquiaga, Melvin Warner, Beth Custer and many others. Currently, Christin can be found conducting in the East Bay Youth Band (ebyb.org) and performing in the San Francisco Punk Rock Orchestra and Tre’ Klarinet Trio. We had so much fun putting this CD together that Christin looks forward to the next CD project.... one with the Brazilian and Caribbean influences, some choros, calypsos with a bit of classical and of course some steel pan, she so adores.
