Seth Kaufman developed his solo piano sound in Ithaca and New Orleans. Drawing upon influences in jazz, rock, and minimalism, Kaufman's style has been said to "push the piano's limits" (Times Picayune, New Orleans). In 1993 the artist recorded a collection of his early solo piano works inspired by the dramatic gorges of Ithaca in the Finger Lakes of upstate New York entitled "Cascadilla" The album was initially released in 1993 only on cassette and is now available on CD in a digitally remastered edition.
