Drum Time was created by Portland, Oregon drummer Scott Appleman. Studying from the age of nine, Scott initially trained for several years with the principal percussionist of the Sacramento Symphony. Although Scott has played in numerous rock and pop bands over the years, he has never forgotten that formal classical training from his youth. While working towards that elusive major label deal with a rock band in the early nineties, Scott was also releasing cassettes of percussion music throughout the West Coast. Although at that time he had some success with college radio and the local press, it has been almost ten years since Scott’s last solo release. Now, Scott Appleman is back with his most accomplished work to date. Influenced by such artists as Stomp, Blue Man Group, and Mickey Hart, he has created a new brand of percussion music. Drum Time is not meant to show off his chops (although there are some pretty good jazz chops exhibited in Track Three “In Search of Krupaâ€), rather it is meant to be a meditative piece of music that explores and appreciates the drums. The only instrument that is not an official percussion instrument on this entire recording is the trash can lid that was used on the first track. Scott describes Drum Time as a “musical exploration of drumming while obtaining the spiritual experience of rhythm.†Scott believes that drums truly are magical and he always works diligently to play them with the respect that they deserve. If you truly love drums, this is the CD for you. Thanks for taking the time to listen to this recording. Sincerely, Changing Thoughts Productions Track List: 1. Drum Time 2. Classical Days 3.
