The band: Sara Serpa- Voice Jorge Reis- Alto Sax Andre Matos- Guitar Nelson Cascais- Bass Bruno Pedroso- Drums Born in 1979, Sara Serpa is a native singer from Lisboa, Portugal. Sara started her music studies by the age of 7. She went to The Lisboa Conservatory where she studied Piano and Singing. In 2002 Sara entered Luis Villas-Boas Hot Clube Jazz School where she had her first contact with jazz. Since then she participated in masterclasses with Michelle Hendricks, Fay Claassen, Greg Tardy, Matt Penman to name a few. In May 2005 was awarded with a Berklee College of Music Schorlaship and moved to Boston where she currently lives. In Boston she studies with Dominique Eade, Hal Crook, Ed Tomassi among others. For the past 2 years Sara has performed with different groups with portuguese musicians like Andre Matos, Nelson Cascais, Jorge Reis, Bruno Pedroso, Andre Sousa Machado and international musicians like Demian Cabaud, Jesse Chandler, Ferenc Nemeth, Esperanza Spalding, Peter Slavov, Eric McPherson, Aruan Ortiz, Leo Genovese and Vardan Ovsepian. Her performances include famous venues like Hot Clube de Portugal (Lisboa), Regatta Bar (Boston), David Friend Recital Hall (Berklee College of Music), Centro Cultural de Belem (Lisboa).
