All Genres > Classical > Contemporary > CHRISTOPHER ZELLO: Contemplations: Music for Clarinet & Piano The first solo release by clarinetist Christopher Zello reaches two diverse audiences, both the new music crowd, as well as classical music listeners. The title of the disc is derived from the work by Ronald Foster entitled "Contemplations for Solo Clarinet." The eight minute work makes its World Premiere Recording appearance here. Also on the disc are six works for clarinet and piano which are commonly found on music lists for students preparing for state festivals. Several works are standard clarinet repertoire, including the Poulenc Sonata, Hindemith Sonate, and Weber Concertino. Two lesser known works include the rarely recorded Rossini Variations and the Lefebvre Fantaisie-Caprice. Also on the disc is the Lucien Quet Petite Piece, which is available for the first time on CD. For students preparing these works for contest, the works presented in their entirety, enable them to use the recording as a model for tempo, interpretation and musical continuity. The disc was recorded by Audio for the Arts, Madison Wisconsin. The art direction and liner was designed by Kevin Mushel and Amanda Aaron of Milwaukee. Clarinetist Christopher Zello maintains a diverse background working as a performer, educator and arts administrator. A Yamaha Performing Artist and Clinician, he is currently a clarinetist with the Fox Valley Symphony (Appleton), Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, the Woodstock Mozart Festival Orchestra, and other groups in the southeastern Wisconsin area. Mr. Zello has attended the Tanglewood Music Center and the Banff Centre for the Arts. Additionally he has had solo recital broadcasts heard on the WPR Sunday Afternoon Live from the Elvehjem series and Chicago's WFMT 98.7 for the the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series and "Live from WFMT."
