Arthur Goldstein is a pianist and composer who works in both classical and jazz idioms. His current recording INTERSECTIONS reflects this dual interest as well as his commitment to 20th century piano music.

There are works by Hovhaness, Debussy, some original music, as well as pieces by Jelly Roll Morton and Frank Proto. Tradition is represented by a Reading of Bach's "Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue. "

Goldstein's previous effort, PIANO SOLOS, is built along a similar model and contains pieces by Alban Berg, Samuel Barber, and Thelonious Monk.

He performs as a solo pianist, leads a jazz quartet, and does a great deal of accompanying.

He has worked with, among others, Van Dyke Parks(who produced the lp "New Day Comin'," which featured Goldstein as vocalist and songwriter for the rock group Archie Blue), Dennis diBlasio, and Bob Mintzer. He recently accompanied blues legend "Honeyboy" Edwards.

His teachers have included Alexander Fiorillo of Temple University, Bill Dobbins, and Joe Lovano. He has served on the faculty of Bucknell University and presently teaches piano at the Music Academy and jazz history at Pennsylvania State University.

His music with Archie Blue was the featured soundtrack for MAGIC IN THE AFTERNOON, winner of the Golden Cine Award for best U>S> documentary film in 1984.

In 1998, he performed in the world premiere of Memphis-based composer Marshall Fine's SONATA FOR ALTO SAXOPHONE AND PIANO which featured
Dan Yoder at Pennsylvania State University.

He likes to remain busy and optimistic and very much hopes you appreciate and enjoy his work.
