There are lots of 'secrets' around and about this album...songs 2 and 4 were 'invented' on the spot: Key to my heart came about because of this great bass riff that Mike started playing at our jam...Gimme just one more chance popped out of my head when I started another song we were going to do too fast...weird, eh..?
I wrote "You Steal" over time. It started as a guitar riff that my friend Annie used to play up in Gainesville as a blues motif that she possibly got from one of our old-time blues heroes..I'm not sure. I was jamming on that one day and it led to this...you steal my heart away..it isn't a good steal...it's a scary and imprisoning steal...which later became on anthem for the danger and imprisonment of a very bad relationship.
