The long-awaited, most recent recording of the Dick Hindman Trio now available!! - recorded LIVE at the Jazzschool in Berkeley, California. In this CD the trio covers the gamut of tune-driven jazz music, from roaring, unstoppable swing to heart-breaking tenderness and sensitivity.

Opening with a gently rollicking version of Richard Rodgers's "With a Song in My Heart" (which Dick recorded before as a piano solo on his solo CD "You Are the Song"), Dick, Colin and Seward then catapult into a raging version of Miles Davis's "Solar". After an intense solo piano introduction by Dick the trio literally catches fire on this track, with dynamite solos by bassist Seward and drummer Colin Bailey as well as a blazing statement by Dick on piano.

After these pyrotechnics, Dick settles back into a medley, consisting of his own touching tribute to Brazilian music, entitled "Brazilian Waltz", which then segues into a moving rendition of "Corcovado" by Brazil's great composer Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Now the trio shifts gears once again, playing Dick's graceful composition "Ballad in G Minor," which proves to be quite a bit more swinging than the average ballad. Then, as if to top that, the trio moves into a stomping version of Irving Berlin's classic "You're Just in Love." Starting out in an easy swing feel and a relaxed groove, the trio is soon shaking the rafters of the auditorium with the dynamism and energy of this blistering performance. The cheers of the audience at the end of the cut readily attest to the enthusiasm felt by averybody who was present for this remarkable evening of jazz piano trio.

Finally, as if in a swinging benediction to end the festivities, Dick and the trio course through a sensitive and compelling rendition of his own composition "The Face of Love to Come," another tune which begins with a deceptively low-key approach, but qhickly takes off to form the perfect capper for a perfect evening of jazz entertainment.

If you are a lover of jazz piano trio (or jazz in general), and if you love good tunes, then DON'T MISS this exciting trio recording - The Dick Hindman Trio caught in LIVE performance in Berkeley, California.
