PJ002 is Chalie's rendition of early piano blues and boogie woogie styles, using relatively rare tunes among the chestnuts and a few original improvisations. The influence of Chicago, St Louis, Memphis, Texas and other deep south points are prominent. A tribute to Cow Cow Davenport is in the Davenport Stomp track (an original composition). Pete Johnson, Jimmie Yancey, Albert Ammons, Pinetop Smith, George and Hersal Thomas, Meade Lus Lewis and W C Handy are also remembered.
