To long time blues fans throughout the southwest, Buddy Reed remains one of the area's most fluid and powerful practitioner of authentic traditional blues guitar. His guitar style reveals the influence of Hubert Sumlin, Tampa Red, Arthur Crudup and slide masters Muddy Waters, Elmore James and J.B. Hutto. His repertoire reflects his love for early American roots music. Buddy's definition: "...I'm a roots rock & roll guy that plays the blues." As evident throughout his new release (Livin' It), Buddy has accomplished that which he set out to do back in the early 70's. He's found his own thing, developing a sound all his own Remaining committed to traditional, no frills, blues guitar on his '56 Silvertone, Buddy's style reflects the man himself-raw & unpolished. His sinuous slide, lascivious lyrics and nasty bar room howl, all make for an infectious effect of heated libido on the dance floor. Add to that, a mean two-fisted choppin' on keys by "Boogieman" Brett Miller and you get a barrel house rockin', boogie boot-stompin' show hoppin' all the way to, " ...last call for alcohol!" A natural talent by Al Hixon on drums and some monstrous bass by Dave Brown doing fine back up vocals. If you like your blues well done, authentic and sexy, you're gonna find Buddy Reed & th' Rip It Ups' new release "Livin' It" a favorite in your collection of roots rockin' traditional blues guitar CDs.
