This is my first album. I play every instrument on the cd, execpt the live track. The live track was recorded in July of 2003 at Davis Elkins College in Elkins WV at the Augusta Heritage Center's guitar week concert. Special thanks to Barb Withee on bass and Robin Kessinger on rythm guitar. There are a few origionals on the disk such as The Road Ain't No Good Life, I Get High, Baby What A Shame and the title cut, One Way Ticket. If you enjoy anything from Merle Travis' Thumbpicking to BB King or Stevie Ray's lead stylings, then you will enjoy this. Thanks and enjoy, Alonzo Biography Alonzo Pennington was born in Princeton, Ky in February of 1980. The first picture his parents took of him when they got him home was under the neck of an old Gibson guitar. As fate would have it, Alonzo fell in love with the joy of music and performing. Alonzo's father Eddie, is a world renown musician in the style of Merle Travis. Alonzo has been traveling and playing with his father since the early age of five. Alonzo got his first paying job as a musician at the age of six playing fiddle for Gene Francis' Country Square Dances every Saturday night. Alonzo grew up playing fiddle to the country standards of Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, etc. One afternoon Alonzo brought a friend home from school who said he could play a couple songs on the guitar. The two songs were Jimi Hendrix's Red House and Stevie Ray Vaughan's Pride n Joy. This was Alonzo's first taste of the blues. Next thing you know, Alonzo was buying old Muddy Water's, B.B. King, Albert King, and Eric Clapton albums. A love of the blues was born. By the time Alonzo was 13, he had his own band. Within a years time, Alonzo was already playing local public and private venues with his band. It has only escalated from there. A few years and many night clubs later, Alonzo has now developed into what one promoter calls "the top R&B guitarist in the south". Of all the many great places Alonzo has played, some of his favorite memories are sitting in his parents living room and playing with family and friends such as his father, sister Rosebud, and grandfather Norman Pennington. Music is and has always been a big part of the Pennington Family Heritage for as many as 7 generations back. Alonzo now lives in Nashville, Tn where there is music to be found 24/7. He makes his living playing and singing the blues mixed with some traditional western Kentucky Thumbpicking with a hint of the country sounds he grew up playing fiddle to. Alonzo also does recording session work for other artists in the studios. Music is the love of his life. It doesn't matter wether he is playing Guitar, Mandolin, Fiddle, or Bass. Alonzo just enjoys that make ya smile feeling that good music gives.
