Blues with electric soul is what personifies "Catfish Blue." This young band considers their music as "Blues that gets to the point," and does it ever. "Carrera Targa" gives every indication that this group continues to mature and use their resources wisely. Steve McPherson, the mainstay on guitar and the glue that has held them together, is getting better every time I hear him. This is also their most sophisticated and crisp production to date. There may only be five songs, but oh do they get their point across. Todd Stentiford is still strong in voice and presence fronting the group. It remains a wonder to me how that voice comes out of his skinny little body. His voice is very big and it compliments McPherson's cut-like-a-knife biting guitar licks.

Every song has its own special appeal and pace; they mix it up well showcasing every aspect that they have to offer. I look forward to watching their continuing development and wonder if they will remain a blues oriented group. I somehow doubt it because they are so young and vibrant they are bound to get restless and will be looking for new directions musically. For now I will enjoy what they have offered and will wait and see what's next.
