Meeting audiences with just an acoustic guitar and a unique, powerhouse voice, celebrated singer-songwriter Ben Carroll has a rare, deep take on the Blues and roots music. His ease and depth as an artist have won over many in his native New York City and abroad. Ben Carroll is the son of two members of the Grammy-winning Starland Vocal Band (best known for their hit song "Afternoon Delight" in 1976). He began writing songs early, learning from renowned performers as a youngster. Carroll has performed as far away as Switzerland and Ireland, at such notable national venues as Merriweather Post Pavilion, The Barns at Wolf Trap, The Mercury Lounge, on radio stations such as WXPN (Philadelphia) and WRNR (Annapolis), and at colleges and universities around the U.S.A. He has shared the stage with Grammy-winner Shawn Colvin, Amy Correia, The Mammals, and many other powerful artists. Voted a top male solo artist of 2005 in Amore Magazine's Readers' Poll (Portland, ME); Honorable Mention in Billboard Magazine's 13th Annual Songwriter Contest; winner of 2nd place in American Songwriter's Lyric Contest (Nashville, TN). Lover Undercover (Luckytone Records, 2005) is a heartfelt, emotionally rich and sophisticated first record. A few songs were previously recorded by producer Ethan Johns (producer for Ray LaMontagne, Ryan Adams) while more recent songs were recorded for the first time.
