Performing songwrtier Scotty Clark believes that life is like a sculpture. "You have got to use your hands." He is much more at home fixing his Dodge Dart then surfing the web. Born a hundred years to late, Scotty still believes that a honest hard days work is "good for you." Scotty plays pure Americana, though he calls it all music, "I can't for the life of me figure out what all that pigeon hole stuff was about. I love good country, Celtic. Acoustic blues, Cajun and gospel; but now some of it falls under the category Americana. "So be it." Americana it is and it fits like a glove, from a sweet John Hurt inspired finger picking blues to a hard edge Chicago blues then off to a Nashville stratocaster lead, Scotty handles it all! Born in Tupelo Mississippi, birthplace of the king, the music bug had bitten at a young age. "By seven or eight I had a duo with the kid down the street. He was on drums I had gotten a tambourine, it was an odd little percussion duo and I sang lead. But, we broke up when I moved to Florida. There I began playing guitar, a clunky classical my sister had. A friend of mines dad had an old Gibson acoustic from the early 50's that had a neck and action like a high dollar electric. He let me play if one night and I was hooked. I got my first fender electric soon after that. Scotty Clark is a versatile guitar player and vocalist. He'd rather sound like Woody Guthrie than George Strait. He plays both Martin acoustic guitars, a fender stratocaster, Gibson RD Artist, 1936 National Steel and a single row button accordion. His shows range from solo, duo with mandolin accompaniment to his 5 piece for bigger rooms and festivals. Scotty can rock! He has opened shows for Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks, Donna the Buffalo, The Young Dubliners and Ozomatli. He has worked in conjunction with the city for festival gigs, played the Weekly Planet Music Splash Series and was show cased at writers night at the Orpheum in Ybor City with other prestigious musicians form the area. Scotty Clarks songs are stories, meant to be listened to and savored. He reflects on his own songwriting by saying "you've got to live with your eyes wide open and your ears unplugged to hear the lines and see the stories." And that's where "Big Largo Tour" comes in these are 10 original songs picked to take you on the bus through Largo and get a glimpse of life. The record is receiving air play on WMNF Radio in Tampa during the afternoon blues and the drive time traffic jam shows where his "Git on Home" seems to fit right in.
