Guillaume is part of this new breed of singer-songwriters that seem to defy categorization. While deeply rooted in the blues and American folk, his music incorporates many other influences, a testament to Guillaume's broad musical background.

Guillaume grew up in Paris, France, and began music as a classical violinist. He later switched to the piano, and eventually found his calling in the guitar. After a few stints with various rock outfits and and having relocated to New York, Guillaume switched his attention to acoustic fingerstyle guitar and country blues. These years were marked by such high points as workshops with Woody Mann and the life-changing experience at International Guitar Seminars. During that time Guillaume also developed his slide guitar skills, now a key element of his style.

In 2001, Guillaume started putting together the demos for the songs of Traverse, a collection of tunes crafted over the years, including two tracks with lyrics by long-time wordsmithing collaborator Carl Casinghino. In April 2002, Guillaume booked time in a Boston studio and laid down some all-acoustic tracks. In June, "band" tracks were recorded at the Rotary Records studio in Western Massachusetts with the help of the Casinghino 7, a Northampton-based jazz/blues band.

Guillaume is now involved in a couple of side projects, including an old-time ragtime and blues combo, as well putting down some demos for a traditional Irish music project. He is also hard at work on a follow up recording project to Traverse.
